Sunshine Award

sssa2

A Big thank you to Lizardin Bain for my first blogging award! This is an award given to people who share a sunshine feeling with fellow bloggers. Either the content is something that’s warm and uplifting and/or the blogger is someone who spreads warmth and encouragement to others in their blogging community. This award was put onto my post A New Encounter and as a new blog I am starting to get linked into the lovely community of readers and writers here.  So although I am posting this much later than my nomination, I am very happy to be doing so.

As this blog is orientated around short stories, this is the first post in which I am talking a little about myself. Enjoy!

How this works : The blogger that nominated me proposed a number of questions to which I’m to answer upon acceptance of the award, after which I nominate others who I feel qualify for this and propose my own questions to them.

If you had to choose which villain’s life to live – who and why?

Jafar… wait no…. Harley Quinn! She’s cute and carefree. She’s not truly evil and her villainous tendencies are inspired by love. She’s bi-polar and just keeps on finding ways to survive whatever twists and turns life throws at her. Her character always reminds me to not take life so seriously, laugh a little and enjoy, no matter how tough things get. Plus she gets to ride in the Batmobile!

A silly thing that never fails to make you laugh.

Random Discordian references

What is your favorite bird?

There’s a Cardinal that hangs with the really cute sparrows around my area. I really like him. He’s specifically my favorite bird right now. Generally my favorite type of bird is a crow. Just the mysteriousness and wonder that they symbolize. They’re easily underrated and so awesome! Always wanted to befriend one, but haven’t had that opportunity.

Would you rather have a job that allows you to be carefree and doesn’t ask any effort but without vacation or hard-work that keeps you on your toes constantly and two-months vacation?

Of course the second option. Feeling like I’ve accomplished something and then taking a long break, that’s ideal.

There is a runaway trolley barreling down the railway tracks. Ahead, on the tracks, there are five people tied up and unable to move. The trolley is headed straight for them. You are standing some distance off in the train yard, next to a lever. If you pull this lever, the trolley will switch to a different set of tracks. However, you notice that there is one person tied up on the side track. You have two options:

Do nothing, and the trolley kills the five people on the main track.

Pull the lever, diverting the trolley onto the side track where it will kill one person.

Which is the most ethical choice?

To flip a coin on it, because it’s arguable either way and we live in a realm of chaos. Hail Discordia!…. Ok fine, It’s more ethical to save the 5 and off the 1,.. Unless you want to theorize about who these people might be…

What, if some day or night a demon were to steal after you into your loneliest loneliness and say to you: “This life as you now live it and have lived it, you will have to live once more and innumerable times more; and there will be nothing new in it, but every pain and every joy and every thought and sigh and everything unutterably small or great in your life will have to return to you, all in the same succession and sequence – even this spider and this moonlight between the trees, and even this moment and I myself. The eternal hourglass of existence is turned upside down again and again, and you with it, speck of dust!” – Nietzsch Would you take it as a curse or as a blessing?

Curse. The words “Can’t live forever” feel very comforting to me.

If you were allowed to drink one drink (only one) for the rest of times – what would it be?

Water, realistically

Alcohol or smoking?

Alcohol. One shot helps quiet all the swirling thoughts and lets me focus on the moment. Beneficial when trying to work on a piece of writing or getting a project done.

Also great for potentially awkward social situations.

If you were allowed to live anywhere – where?

Miami sounds really really nice… oh sunshine… if only we weren’t just a summer fling.

Be popular but lonely or unknown but with a family?

Uggh.. Do I really have to answer that? Can’t I just be somewhere in the middle? I’ve really been learning the value of balance in life. The extremes are just so tiring.

I now nominate the following bloggers for the sunshine award, as they have each brought a some light into the beginnings of this blog.

Pia Majumdar – for hosting the flash fiction challenge that has sparked several if not all my recent posts. Thank you!

Patty Richardson – for being a positive and encouraging influence and for this lovely story.

The Dark Netizen – For your positive feedback and the darkly humorous stories that have made me laugh!

Evi Abada – for your positive personality and creating posts that are very easy and enlightening to read.

To accept the award, copy and paste the following questions into a new post along with the (super specific) sunshine award image/badge, include a pingback to this post and then nominate a few other bloggers you think deserve the recognition. Enjoy!

I also understand that not all bloggers like to participate in awards or have time to do them so no offense will be taken if you don’t wish to do this. In which case, take it as a compliment and let it make your day!

What about a song makes or breaks it for you?

Is there someone’s painting or (other visual art) that you really admire?

Is there a series that ended quite some time ago but you still lament about? (tv show, books, anything…)

What is one of your favorite music videos and why?

What is something about yourself that might be considered taboo but you don’t mind letting people know?

Would you rather attend a church sermon dressed gothic, or go to a heavy metal bar dressed pastoral (Mormon-like)?

Take a moment and second thought on this one if you have to. If your life were to take a drastic change where everyone who means something to you dropped out of your life and you no longer need to impress anyone or prove anything, would you still be doing what you’re doing now? For better or for worse? What would you change?

What would you say are the 3 most artistically filmed movies? (As in they have a completely different feel or style to them than most films)

How would you describe your clothing style? Is there a certain image or impression you (try to) get across by dressing a certain way?

What do your (nighttime) dreams mean to you?

Choose one of your posts (from however long ago) that still stirs some personal feelings, that if you could share those feelings with the world, it would be through this post. The post doesn’t have to literally mention those feelings, but it means something deep to you  – post it’s link as the answer to this question.
